Last Friday, I woke up at 5am and headed to my yoga studio for a class in order to warm up my body to prepare for an exciting shoot with H&M. I am never an early morning person, but surprisingly I was pretty refreshed when I woke up, and really enjoyed my 7am Hatha class! Looking back, I think it was probably the best decision ever because it really prepped me well for the shoot.
It was one of those things that felt that everything fell into place. I was told to do my own hair and make up for the shoot, but it was a really last minute decision to get Yang’s help. Yang is our college junior, and she is a freelance make-up artist. In fact, we only contacted her on Thursday afternoon and it was so coincidental that she was free and she was more than happy to help me out for the shoot! Come to think of it, I would never be able to handle make up and hair on my own during the shoot.
But that still didn’t keep me from feeling so jittery before the shoot though! When the production house came into the studio, it all hit me that it’s really happening. Discussing the different poses that I would do also felt so surreal and crazy at the same time. But the boyfriend and Yang were there talking to me and encouraging me, so that really make things a whole lot better.
Here are some of the outtakes of the photo shoot last week:
This is the first time I am working with a professional production house, and I am just really thankful that the photographers, the art directors, and the marketing people were all really encouraging and understanding! That made the whole photoshoot a lot more light-hearted and a lot less stressful.
And I am also impressed with how much they pay attention to the different tiny details and how their sportswear turn out in the photos. They were constantly making sure that there weren’t too many creases on the clothes, and that the clothes are symmetrical and presents its best angle. It is an eye opener and after the shoot I was sure that the final product will turn out great.
To be honest, the shoot was really tiring, because I had to repeat the flow many times in different outfits, and we do multiple takes in each outfit to make sure that we get the shot that we want. It definitely is a great work out and the shoot took us well over 3 hours! But looking at the end product and looking back at the experience, I really don’t regret one bit. It was a really fun project and I really hope to be involved in something like this in the future!
